Help! My Ariston Margherita CD12T doesn’t work anymore

Hi all,

I’m new to the forum and would like some advice on trying to repair my washing machine. My washing machine is an Ariston Margherita CD12T (I know it is a horrible old washing machine!). Basically i turn the machine on and it goes about it’s business, but the drum will not spin. I have looked inisde the machine and the fly wheel and belt are all attached and are able to move still. When the machine tries to spin the drum, i hear clicking and buzzing noises (not good). There also appears to be a lot of water inside the machine, which is slightly worrying! Is there something else i should be checking for?

Motor carbon brushes worn out would be my first thought, but clicking noises may sugges that the motor has actually blown.

Any recommendations for a new washing machine then? I need a compact washing machine that is about 850mm high and 550mm wide. I would quite like to get one that i can mount a door on, but is no biggy.
