Help needed door interlock on hoover HPE236

Hello,
I’ve viewed the online instructions from this site as to how to replace the interlock. Have followed the instructions but I can’t get the new interlock to lay flush with the machine front. I’ve slid in the left hand side of the interlock first but there isn’t enough room for me to get the groove on the right side of it pushed through the hole to secure it.
I ordered 41016879 from here as it was the compatible interlock for my machine.
Desperate to get this sorted so any help would be gratefully received.

Groove in first then slide to click into place.

Thanks Martin, that was what I was doing but just not quite hard enough. A little bit of jiggling and coaxing and it slid into place. So I now have a working washing machine 😀 😀
