    Hi All

I’ve ordered this spare part from your good selves and I’m wondering how to fit it (without damage!)

Firstly, there’s no doubt about it being the right part assembly, I believe, as long as it comes with the rubber ‘shroud’ attachment. Because that’s the bit that is faulty on my machine. It’s quite a weird fault really as a third of the rubber has just disintegrated (it’s almost like it’s been eaten away!). I just wondered if anybody had seen that before now?

Anyway, I’ve no problem about connecting the motor spiggot or the sensor spigot to the rubber shroud but I’m having a problem removing the existing rubber shroud (which contains an inner hard plastic screw thread) from the spray arm base connection (I have the nachine upside down). I just can’t seem to get it off. It doesn’t help that the motor is in the way. Is there a tip to getting this rubber/plastic shroud off? Or is there a way to easily remove the motor so I can get better access?

    Any help gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Jules

A few observations, one, your machine is not a Whirlpool. Two, you should not tip a dishwasher upside down to repair, doing this may have allowed water to get into components that will suffer damage. Three if it has been eaten away then it sounds as though you may have a mouse invasion. If you don’t investigate and cure they will be back to attack the exact same hose in no time at all.

The lower spray arm connection simply unscrews from the threaded section of the new assembly, in fact it is very common for these to come loose under normal use and flood the base. The machine should be laid on its left hand side to do this.

    Hi ladom

You’re quite right it’s not a Whirlpool (it’s a badged Hotpoint made by Indesit I believe). Please excuse that slip as I’m also running another problem with a Whirpool 1200/1 – door lock. It’s been a bad winter….

Machine now down on it’s left side, thanks. I hope no harm has come of that…

Re mice: that’s the first thing I though of but I’ve already discounted it. I’m long enough in the tooth to recognise mice infestation, however small, having dealt with many over the years. I’ve also made a thorough check for droppings in and outside the machine and on the overflow/drip tray. Can never be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain but I will be taking precautions. To be honest it only looks like it’s been eaten away. Still baffled by that…

So this rubber/plastic ‘shroud’ screws directly in to the lower spray arm connector. Thanks again. I thought there might be some intermediate connector between the two which prompted me to ask about removal- like I say, it’s a tough old fit and I don’t want to break anything.

    Cheers

    Jules

I have never seen one of these that has rotted or perished. The machines don’t usually last long enough for that. I have however seen many mouse damaged dishwashers and washers over the past 40+ years.

The lower spray arm fixing screws into the new piece that you have.
