Help! New Siemens machine won’t work

I’m praying there is someone out there who will read this and know what to do about this problem…….. Just bought a brand new Siemens WM145493GB which was delivered yesterday afternoon. The transport bolts were removed, and it was connected up to the power and water. Before the first wash the machine must run a cycle on empty and the instructions were followed to the letter – putting 1 litre water in the drum and a half measure of detergent in feeder, set to the required programme and pressed Start. Nothing happens. Tested the water pressure which is fine, checked all the connections numerous times, and still nothing. The shop where we bought the appliance weren’t interested and only suggested we get the water pressure tested – which we had already done. Any suggestions??? (By the way, considering this machine cost £700 I wasn’t impressed with the pathetic one sheet of instruction manual.)

Does the machine power up at all? When you switch it on to you hear a slight buzz from the back?

Nope – not a sound. The lights come on re the programme settings but when the start button is pressed, it stops flashing and is constant as if the programme is running. But not a peep from the machine.

I don’t know if there’s anything obvious with these machines in all honesty but I’d say that either it’s something dead silly, like a child safety thing or suchlike, or it’s going back the shop most likely.

Either Boro or BSHMan will probably be able to offer more help when one of them sees this.

Check your email. This manual may have a bit more information than the one you have 😉

I assume the door is fully closed yes. When you press start do you hear a click from the door area.

Are there any cracks around the door frame particularly near the hinge. Also check the door hook for damage.

Is the inlet hose kinked at all ❓
