ParticipantI apologise if this is in wrong forum, but my misses is driving me nuts.
I have a hotpoint 1200 1st edition.
Before I call anyone out would like some help please.
1st of I have to bang the door literally about 30 times to get the light to come on for it to work, and sometimes not even the door, could be the top of the machine.
Secondly,I cant get water flowing through even though the pipes to the taps are clear, but this is the strange thing,if I leave the taps on then over the course of a few days the machine fills up itself. When my machine is on it takes about an hour to fill up,so some water is getting through but you cant see or hear it.
Has anyone go any ideas please. The machine is about 6 years old and used on average once a week.Ive taken the back off and cleared the pipes to the machine but makes no difference.
When the machine was 1st installed water was fine running through, and Ive even changed to a spare set of pipes to the machine.
would appreciate any help and wether its more cost effective to buy a new machine than getting it repaired,I wont be doing it myself.February 11, 2007 at 6:45 pm #203984Penguin45

Assuming that this is a “WM–” (fill in missing number, please 😀 ), you need this: http://tinyurl.com/j3lac to solve the starting problem. Yours is knackered.
Filling problem almost certainly due to water supply – inlet valves do occasionally seize up and allow trickle filling when activated, but you have at least three separate solenoids in your machine. They will not all be faulty. Self cutting taps (the ones that clamp around the pipe) are shockers for clagging up inside. If you have the little red and blue lever taps, unscrew the levers and observe how far the water is actually turned on. The “flats” should be inline with the pipe for full flow. The tags crack inside and prevent full movement.

Regards,
Penguin45.Thankyou very much for your reply, the only thing Im worried about is messing with the clamps around the pipes just incase water starts flowing out and I cant stop it.
I have done that once before then water started leaking down the pipe, and took me a while to stop it.
At the moment Im manually filling it up with a spare pipe to the soap box.
many Thankstony
Also the instruction manuel says wm51 wm52 wm53 …what does the letter mean at the end of rthe numbers,is that important?

The letter at the end of the model number is simply the colour variant (in your case ‘p’ is for polar white)
One of the fill valves is faulty and will need replacing…to find out which you need to disconnect the black hoses from the valves inside the machine and see which one is dribbling water in.
As far as the machine not turning on straightaway it will almost certainly be the door lock, the only way to confirm this other than replacement is with a meter.
Power off if investigating :zap:

Thankyou very much.Ive ordered a new door off here and will have to call someone out to do the valves as I cant get them off,and are very tight, and most certainly wont be albe to get them back on.
Thanks everyone for all the info.
