    The new one is 30w

Ive posted a couple of movies, the first is checking the rebound on the pump
    http://67.108.224.116/kmntemp/rebound.avi
The second is the pump under power

I am certain from looking at both avi files, the pump is underpowered and it must relate to being on 60 cycles rather that 50 🙁

Has the old pump ever or never worked since you took the machine to the USA?

Definitely a faulty pump…the very first seconds of the ‘rebound’ avi shows a stiffness in turning, and too great a rotation before the magnetic ‘rebound’

Penguin is correct when he mentions problems with impellor drive.

A new pump will solve the problem, remembering that on first use there may well be an airlock which is easily shifted by turning the power on and off a few times during a pumping action. Once the airlock has gone there will always be some water left in preventing further airlocks (the pump will drain down to the ‘head’ of water required to work and no further)

The wav file of the pump under load gives the typical sound of this failure, the clicking being the slop of the impellor on the drive shaft (machine empty as no pumping actually happening) followed by it eventually running and ‘chasing’ the head of water up and down the drain hose.

Er, I seem to recall a certain someone complaining about duff new pump motors not so very long ago…….

I personally have about 1 in 25 Askolls faulty. I think Mikes problem is going to be to get a replacement motor to the US.

They were Hanning pumps Chris if you referred to me? I have had no problem with Askoll or Plaset pumps ever.

(This thread will beat Evren to the finish I am certain)

You may well be right, but at least this is an intellegent and interesting discussion, complete with movie clips, sound clips and piccies. Oh yes, in proper English as well!

Yes, the old pump has worked since I’ve been here.

Are you all in agreement that the new pump is faulty?

Got to be duff and I would have thought the US market have Askoll (220v 60Hz) type pumps available at stockists in the States?

Doesn’t seem like askoll has a presence in the US unless they are OEM for manufacturers here. Do you know if they are fitted in other manufacturers machines?

Re: Help on old Zanussi washer

I tried to find some comparable spares sites in the US this afternoon but I find I draw a blank 😕

Apart from the manufacturers own and selling what is traditional such as Maytag etc there aren’t any that I can find 🙁

I’ll ask one of the UK importers for you and see where it leads 🙂
