ParticipantMy washing machine works fine but when it goes to the middle of the cycle, i think is rinse, it makes semi-loud motor noises, in my opinion it sounds like it is trying to pump the water out but to no avail. I look at the water inside and it doesnt even move, I have a feeling if I leave it on while its making that noise it will burn the motor out, if there is a motor in there.
The thing is, no lights come on and it doesnt make any beeps, its just the motor banging or something.
And strangley this actually happened around 2 months ago, I drained all the water out, wiggled the washer around and tried again and it worked fine for the next couple of months. Ive done that this time, drain the water out and wiggled it about but it stops inthe middle again and sounds like its going to blow up.
I really, really cant afford a tech to come fix it and im down to my last clean clothes 😳
I have a feeling it is blocked but i’m not confident with just pulling it apart without knowing what im doing. If somebody could help me please it would be much appreciated! Thank you.June 27, 2007 at 4:24 am #218600melmelmel

I’m not sure now if its a MW512 or 511 – I’ve just been reading the manual provided inthe sticky part and think i know why its broken.
In the manual it says:
If you always or only use Cold wash you must at least have 1 warm or hot wash every 5th wash – I’ve had this washer 2 years now and never done a warm or hot wash.
It says if you regulary use Cold wash you must occasionally clean the inside of your machine.
OK ive never done a warm cycle and never cleaned the inside.
I would like the do the overnight soaking thing that it recommends but my machine doesnt drain, should i still do it and drain it myself?
Also I dont know how to do a warm cycle thats why ive never done it, do I just turn the hot tap on and thats it?June 27, 2007 at 7:36 am #218601bigsmokepiker

Lets Check the pump first POWER OFF
Sounds like Something has stuck in Pump
Pump located under bowl of washer
Tip Washer Back & Give The Pump Fan a Bit of A Turn
If there is Something Caught in there This May Free It up
Other wise you may Have To remove Pump itself
Pump Clicks Into Place
Check around pump for nay signs of Water leakageThe suggetion for warm washes is to do with the detergent build up/Sludge you get if only washing in Cold Water
The Detergents dont break down properly in cold water ( especially in Winter when cold water is COLD )
For best results usde Warm to Hot Wash Depending on garments
Put is this Way do you wash your dishes in cold Water?
Just turn on Hot Tap

Hi thank you so much for your reply. When I got your message I went home and tipped the washer back, when I looked under it there was a plastic bag caught in the propeller/pump – plain as day.
I removed it and everything worked fine. Also thank you for the warm water comment, I never thought of it that way, I’ve done my first and a few more warm washes and everything is going great. Thank you again for your help! All the best. 🙂 -
