Help replacing the door seal of Hotpoint WD41 Washer Dryer..

Hi folks,

Wondering if anyone can help me changing the door seal on my aging WD41.
The bit I’m stuck at is how to remove/disassemble the plastic “lock” on the outside of the door frame which seems to lock the (jubilee?) clip in place.

Do I need a special tool…? 🙁
I decided to post before using the universal tool – brute force… 😉

Also, (several months ago) the same machine has refused to produce any heat whilst drying – this isn’t so much a problem now as we use a separate dryer but is still niggling me. Anyone tell me what’s the first thing I should check…?

Hi Andy
The door seal’s the easy bit…you need to carefully prise the wire over the edge of the seal. A small flat blade driver under the top part of it will do the trick.
As to not heating on the dryer, the machine has overheat protectors on the hot air duct, these need to be checked first and if any are open circuit then the cause needs to be ascertained.

So I just leave the wee plastic thing alone then…

I assume it’s more or less the same procedure reversed to fit the new seal…

to refit…a careful twist will unlock the plastic clip, refit the band then squeeze to clip together again to tension it
