ParticipantHi, hope someone has some advice on what could be wrong with our Fridge Freezer….
Basically items in the bottom of the fridge started freezing, and items at the top of the freezer were defrosting. I had an engineer out who defrosted the freezer, found that one of the fan blades had snapped off, and the error code pointed to a fan motor problem too. He was meant to call with a quote to change the motor but never did… Anyway I’ve replaced the freezer fan motor & fan, and confirmed that the fan is working now. However after a day or two of things working we’re back to square one. The error code is flashing again, the top of the freezer is defrosting and items low in the fridge freeze.
Any ideas what it could be, or know any engineers in the West Midlands who could fix it before I have to buy a new Fridge? I think its around 5 years old, we bought it off the previous house owner when we moved in.
thanks 🙂

Hi
Most likely cause on this model is either the defrost heater plug is not fully pushed in or that the heater is duff or thermal fuse or defrost sensor.

Thanks Bryan, are these parts all within the freezer compartment?

Thanks again!
Does the photo below provide any obvious signs of which of the parts require changing (for example the frost covering some of the pieces…), before I order and change all those you recommend? I checked the heater plug connections and it seems fine

Hi
That looks like a fan error

That’s what the error code said (F-FAN), so I’ve replaced the fan motor. The new fan was working initially (spinning), but it stopped within a day!
I guess a new fridge is the only option??

Hi
Have you checked the door switch and or the connection on the main PCB ?

Hi Bryan,
When you say door switch, do you mean whether the light goes off when the door shuts? If so this seems OK. Checked the PCB and connections seem fine too.
cheers
