HELP! stinky washing machine

I recently put our 10 year old Zannussi Nexus machine on a hot wash as I was advised to do this every so often.

To be fair we probably had not done it in years and the hot wash flushed through a great residue which I had hours of fun removing from the inner part of the seal.

Having successfully done that we have found that the filter area is not draining after washing causing a build up of stale water which stinks.

Any thoughts please on what the problem is and how I may fix it.

The “gunge” will have caused a blockage.

Presumably the filter has been checked 😉

If that’s OK, check further up at the point where the waste hose connects to the sink trap (if it does), it’s most likely blocked in there.

I turned the machine over disconnected the hoses and found plenty more of the gunk

I think it might be sorted now

:eeek: Not upside down I hope ? If you did, please don’t, it causes all sorts of problems!!

Keep a good watch over it the first time you use it on a full cycle.
