Help taking front panel off my hotpoint CTD85

Hi

I’m trying to take the front panel off my hotpoint CTD85 tumble dryer because a couple of the buttons are recessed and need popping back through.

I can’t seem to work out which bits need removing to gain access to the panel. I can losen the sides and the top but can’t actually get them off because they seem to be secured at the front inside.

Any clues anyone? 🙂

You don’t need the sides off, the top will remove, you just need to take out the two scews at the back and then from the front give it a hard whack with the heels of both hands on either side of the front edge.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon for the control PCB to suffer damage when the On/Off & Start buttons get pushed in, it often results in the very tiny switches on the front of the board falling off.

Mains plug out first and watch the inside metal edges, razor sharp.

BTW, I thought your machine was a CTD85. 😕 Just spotted your other post, serial number would be required to answer your CTD85 question.

Great – thanks for the reply. I did wonder if it just required a bit a force to take the top off, but until you know for sure you don’t want to break anything do you!? It’s always easy once you know how 🙂

Yes sorry you’re correct, I must have been reading another post about a CTD40 and then typed that by mistake 😳 I do indeed have a CTD85

The buttons have always been pushed in since I bought the machine – but they’ve always worked (and still do). It’s always been on my list of things to do but as it wasn’t urgent I’ve not gotten to it yet. But now I’ve had to fix the door switch I thought I might as well do this at the same time.

Regarding my other post – it turns out that the plastic rod that pokes the door switch isn’t going in far enough but I’m not sure why – perhaps the switch itself has become dislodged and pushed further back. I’ve fixed that temporarily by extending the plastic rod using a small hair grip!

Thanks again for the info Jim, it’s nice and easy once you know how.

I managed to push my controls back through and they clicked back into place and while I was there managed to fix the door switch properly as well.

So all-in-all I’m happy as I’ve got a fully working machine again 🙂
