ParticipantI have been trying to find the numbers in case I would need to get service or buy parts for my Kupperbusch fridge and freezer.
In the fridge’s case it is a IKU 168-4. On the plate are two sets of numbers. One is 8551 001 01311; the other 50 0231 000446. What are those numbers and which do I need? Thanks!

Quite possibly all of them.
But the 8511 number looks like a Whirlpool 12NC number.

What’s the connection between Whirlpool ans Kupperbusch then?

Your fridge is a Whirlpool made appliance with a Kuppersbusch badge on it.

And no doubt with a little bit added on to the price for that badge. 👿

I wonder if there is a Kupperbusch Whirlpool equivalence finder.

If you search for parts by the Whirlpool 12nc you will be able to compare them to the Kuppersbusch prices.

They pretty much all do this, especially on low volume products.
Once you get outside the reals of the core business you will find rebadged product abound, exactly in the same way as car manufacturers will share production costs and facilities as it is the only viable way to have a mammoth range.
People get fooled, I suppose is the only way to put it, into thinking that they are buying some fancy thing that’s better when sometimes that simply is not the case. It is touched on in this article: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/buyi … -name.html
Kuppersbuch is owned by Teka and have bought in laundry products from Electrolux that I know of, refrigeration from Whirlpool and others as they don’t make any of either themselves. If they still have the facilities, they did make cooking products but I think that was about it.
Often though it is true that people haven’t a clue what they’re buying.

You’re all right, and worse, brand names get sold on so that someone who bought brand A and found it good, buys another and finds it rubbish, as a rubbish manufacturer made it,
Actually I was thinking about comparative model numbers, more than part price comparisons.

K. I have now managed to get at the freezer’s numbers.
8553 024 01300 50 0150 004328Does that look like a Whirlpool number too?
I can find nothing about a Whirlpool 12NC unfortunately. Please, do you know the freezer equivalent to 12NC, or able to throe further light on whre info can be got?

Looks like it, yes.
There isn’t any easy way to cross reference the models as the 12NC will relate only to that particular product made for Kuppersbusch.
