ParticipantHi, in the summer when it was really hot I had a red alarm light on my Bosch Excel fridge freezer. Since then there has been loud cracking noises which I never had before, and recently I found that I couldn’t shut the freezer door as the drawers were being pushed out from behind as the back panel obviously had loads of ice formed behind it and was pushing it out. I took the advice of a repair man and turned off the fridge freezer. I am now on my second day and at the back of the appliance there is a plastic box which is now full of water, and it doesn’t appear to be detachable so I don’t know how to empty the water. Also, the back panel still is pushed out and I’m not sure what to do – I am planning on a new kitchen in the next few months so don’t want to go to the expense of a new fridge freezer. I need to be able to turn on the fridge again as I have a full house of children, but don’t know how to empty out this water at the back, and if this has solved the problem of the icing up. Should I call out a repair man ? thanks for any help

You can use kitchen roll or towels to mop up the water if there’s too much, which there may well be if there was that much ice.
I’m not sure what you mean by the back panel still being pushed out.

Hi, thanks for your reply. By the back panel, I mean that there is a panel fixed in behind the freezer drawers and that is being pushed out presumably by the ice behind it. That in turn has meant that the drawers aren’t going in completely and the door isn’t able to close properly. Even though i have defrosted it for a couple of days, the panel seems to be now deformed and isn’t laying flat . i wonder if it needs some fixing or is irreparable now.?

Sounds like the insulation has broken down, swollen and full of ice/water?

Hi
It’s more likely that it’s got a blocked drain or defrost problem . But if the rear panel hasn’t been refitted correctly then this will cause the drawers not to be able to push fully back. This will then cause snowing of the evaporator causing incorrect freezing.
