ParticipantHello,
We have inherited a HJA5100 Range cooker (Howdens Kitchen) in our new home but it has a few problems!
The Clock/Timer does not work
The Fan Oven is very noisy.
The Conventional Oven seems to get very hot – like it is overheating the set temperature.I was wondering if anyone could supply the manual/wiring diagram to assist in fault finding the oven?
We have isolated from mains and taken the back off the fan oven and it appears one of the thermal fuses wiring has been cut, and doesn’t appear to go anywhere! 😮Any advice much appreciated

if the clock timer was out of operation then the main oven would not work at all
if the fan is noisy then you will most likely need a new motor unit
if the small oven gets hot 1st make sure both elements are working. turn on with the door open and make sure the top element gets hot, also make sure the floor gets hot as without the lower element all you have is a grill. If it still gets too hot change the thermostat
cant give any wiring info unless you are a trade member but thermal cut outs
1 goes from mains terminal block live to the clock
2 goes from mains terminal block live to the convection oven switchfrom what your saying it sounds like a cowboy has been at it.

Thanks for the reply.
We have ordered a new motor for the fan oven.
Definitely no clock or timer display but the ovens and hot plate power on OK.
Have taken a pic of the rear connections to timer, looks like the thermal fuse wire has been cut here

interesting pic
1 the connector block should not be there so someone has been playing
2 brown wire (yellow arrow) there should be a brown wire coming from the mains terminal block, through the cut out then on to connect to this wire. it provides power for the clock and main oven
3 white wire (Red Arrow) when clock is set this wires takes the live feed to the oven switch to power main oven
my guess is when you find this wire you will find another connector on it and it will join prob the brown one
the red and white one to the clock should be supplying the neutral
don’t know what the red and white are in the left hand terminal
just seen a black connector lower in the picture
bit of a mess, did you get someone out to do this to you ?

No this is a cooker we have inherited in our new house. It’s safe to say it’s not the only cowboy thing we have found so far!

Thanks,
I will examine the wiring fully when I replace the fan, I did use the find engineer facility but no one near me who can help. I have a degree in electronics so happy when working with schematics
