    Hello – just moved into a new place which has a Hotpoint HVL241 washing machine.

    This functioned fine for the first couple of cycles, but now will not operate. When programmed to start, button 4 (“extra rinse”) flashes in addition to the rapid flashing of the door locked button, whilst making a noise as if the pump was trying to engage.

    Cleared out the pump (which had a bunch of coins in it), then button 1 and 2 started flashing.

    After a few minutes, it goes back to only button 4 flashing (along with door locked) and the machine itself is vibrating.

    Any clues please?

    Wrong model number, should be HVL241, 😉

    1 & 2 flashing is a communications error, 4 flashing is F01 motor triac short circuit.

    Could just be poor motor plug connections, worn motor brushes or main circuit board failure. 🙁
