ParticipantHi,
I have a £500 grant to buy a new washing machine from Comet which must include a 5 year warrenty.
But what make etc should I buy as there are so many!
I would like a large drum (family of 5) and a good fast spin (my current is 1200rpm and 5 years old) and AAA rated.
I want the best for my money but I don’t want to pay for a more expensive machine if a cheaper one would be better.
Any advice would be most gratefull received.
Thanks for reading,

I think I would go for the BOSCH WAE28468 UK. I would be cheeky and ask if it has a tub that can be dismantled for servicing. A lot of machines these days have welded together tubs so you can’t renew the drum bearings.

Hi Billy
Siemens were offering a five year warranty on selected machines which finished on the 31st March but is still showing on their website. A phone call to Siemens on 0844 892 8999 may reveal that it may have been extended.
If this is the case I would probably go for the Siemens WM12S383GB If however it has finished I would opt for the sister company Bosch and either the WAE24468 or WAE28364 from this Comet page and purchase the extra 3 year warranty.
Both brands produce well made appliances which are energy efficient and easy to use.
Take a read of this load size article in the advice section just so you are aware of the possible perils of large capacity machines 😉HTH 🙂

I too would also buy a Bosch machine. I came on here asking the same question 2 years ago, took heed, and bought a Bosch machine. I know it’s only 2 yrs old, but it does about 4 loads per week, is barely audible and came with an extended Bosch warranty. Great gear in my opinion and thousands will agree. Hope this helps.

I’m asking the same question, though have a slightly larger budget. I do a lot of washing and my current Bosch is now very noisy on spin which my engineer tells me is because it was made in Spain and the casing is less robust than the German ones. The machine itself has no faults but is now unacceptably noisy and jumps all over the place in a way I’ve never experienced with a Bosch before – this is my third.
Bosch headquarters in Milton Keynes say it isn’t possible to identify where a machine is made before purchasing it so am considering the ISE to avoid this problem.
Any comments much appreciated – MaryD

Hi MaryD
ISE10 is probably the most durable, well built machine I have ever come across. It`s built to last and has a ten year domestic guarantee included in the price.
http://www.iseappliances.co.uk/ website will give you a good insight into the ethos and how the machines came about. The brand has been well recieved by the independants and the media alike.
The machine can be ordered from the site here delivery and installation is carried out by independant service engineers who are on hand should you ever have a problem in the future.
HTH 🙂

Many thanks for prompt reply. Hopefully I will be able to work another five years or so and am wondering what are the advantages of buying the ISE10 over the ISE23. Performance, load and running costs all interest me but am less concerned about getting a machine that might outlive me!
Found the article on larger machines a real eye-opener – am telling all my fellow landladies about your website.
