Having decided to change my hob I’ve now been dazzled by the number of hobs around and the price variance.

Induction hobs are obviously at the higher end of the price range – are they worth the extra? Any recommendations (bearing in mind I will have to change most of my cookware)

Is it worth paying more for a halogen hobs over a normal ceramic hob? Any recommendations. Which manufacturers give best value for money taking into account performance and reliability?

The local kitchen company has recommeded a CDA CD661 hob but not sure if this is because they’re good or because they get a good margin out of them. Have to say that it looks good – stainless steel surround and touch control rather than knobs. Would I be better going for a similar looking one but a different manufacturer (and paying more?).

As you can see I’m confused!!

    Hi

Induction hobs are at the premium end of the range due to the way they operate ie by magnetism instead of elements. However they are quicker than ceramic , more energy efficient and more controllable. Heat is only created when pan is placed on the hob and stops when removed. All this tech does come at a price though.

Standard ceramic hobs with touch control are becoming more popular as they are easier to keep clean and look pleasing to the eye. Ceramic hobs with halogen heatzones usually come with one or two halogen elements which offer slightly quicker heat up about 1.5 secs than the standard ceramic elements , but are more expensive to repair.

There are lots to choose from, stick to Bosch, Neff, Siemens, Zanussi or Belling. You will get a good product and back up should it be required.

    hi

I personnally would accept the CDA appliance as it is made by the largest manufacturer of induction hobs in europe, the same factory that makes for the majority of the bigger well known names.

cost wise will be a better price as your not paying for the “name badge”CDA also give a 5 year parts warranty on there appliances compaired to 1yr from neff, zanussi ect.

The back up personnally is far better with CDA than the larger brand names as once the product is sold by CDA your not just a number.

    hope this helps
