Hi, I have a Homark fitted fridge freezer (no apparent model number, came with the house when we moved in 3 yrs ago) which recently has not been getting cold in the freezer. Cold air is circulating in the freezer, but ice cubes don’t freeze for example. The temperature in the freezer is approx same as that in the fridge.

There are no obvious signs of ice build up. It sounds like the fans are running mostly continuously. Every once in a while I can hear a motor start up for a while and then turn off again, although I can’t remember how this sounded before the fault so this may be ok?

I took a look at moving the unit out from its housing, although not really knowing what I was looking for. There is a sealed unit (the compressor?) which is very hot, practically too hot to touch.

I’ve requested an engineer through repairs@ but I’m wondering, what’s a simple way for me to determine if this is economically worth repairing. I’m happy to just buy a new product if this sounds terminal, if there’s a simple test or two I could carry out before paying for the callout. Thanks in advance!
