Participanti have moved into a ‘new’ house which has a
homark oven and hob
the dials on the oven are
lhs…timer and manual dial
rhs..temperature and
function
the function dial is divided int 5 settings
off
lamp only
fan only
fan with 3 triangles..
fan with 2 triangles
the oven has a grill rail and grill pan with handle
but when grilling the fan is on…as per the two settings
can anyone help please and tell me if there should be a grill only setting and where it might be?
i have looked at some more modern built in ovens in b and q and their controls are a bit self evident as to what to use for grill only
much obliged for any advise
ps…i reckon the oven could be from around 1992 since that i when the kitchen was modernised..
yours

fan with 2 trianglesIf that’s the only grill symbols there are, it can only be set to either full grill or half grill, both with the fan running. This older model probably didn’t have a cavity cooling fan, so the oven fan will be acting as some form of air distribution to stop the cavity overheating I expect.

Dave.thanks dave
this is what i suspected
there is no cavity for a grill chamber as such…the oven is the cavity so what you say seems to make sense that a fan should be running when grilling…
the exposed element for the grill in the roof of the oven does the grilling and as far as i can see heats the oven as well.
i was googling for the homark site to see if i could get some more info but didnt get too far..just came up with spares suppliers.
thanks again for the reply

hi
i moved into house with homark oven too, but settings on the controls have faded. so it’s been a matter of guess work, trial & error! i can’t seem to get the grill to work tho. maybe the element has gone?
there is a diamond shape, a ‘v’ shape, then F & 2 more settings after that. i gathered the F is fan oven – i’ve managed frozen chips on that setting. but i’m not sure on the rest! any clues?January 6, 2005 at 11:04 am #115079Dave_Conway

Karen, if you do a forum search for Homark I posted a picture of the control panel some time back, it should help.
