Hood problems – Hygena APP2130

Hi,

I have some problems with my cooker hood which has not worked since we have moved in. The light works, but when I switch the fan on all I get is a buzzing sound and it doesn’t go round. I guess it is the motor that has gone. Does this make sense and is it easy to replace?

Not too difficult – power off remove 1 black screw from motor cover and turn thro 15 degrees motor and cover will drop down. Remove and replace with supplied new motor. However, you will probably find that a new hood is cheaper than the motor.

Two possible culprits Ben…

The PCB/switch assembly

Or…

The motor itself

Motors do fail, but it’s more likely the PCB is up the chute, little else is liable given the symptoms. 😉

Remember to power off if you decide to investigate.

Will have a look over the weekend. However, when things involve soldering in place it starts getting a bit complicated for me.

9 out of 10 brand new extractors will not be faulty when people think they have problems . most likely the wire/cord as been left to long or not been cliped up out the way and has fallen down and jammed the fan blade or a bit of plaster has fallen down or something along tho lines.
unlikey to be pcb , when u turn on and hear buzzing mean either the fan is stuck on somthing or motor is struggling ie bad motor
