The rubber handle on my 262 has perished…as this machine is starting to get a bit past it’s prime, I suppose I have to expect these things.

I realise it’s not the sort of “consumable” that you’d keep on the shelf…or do you think it would be worthwhile dropping them a line at Perivale.

Well, thanks for your reply, Penguin (Linux?)

I’ve been anguishing over this matter for some days, now.
It’s not a GENUINE part!…It appears to be a totally different style to the original and doesn’t appear to shroud the switch.

But that apart, I have grave concerns that it won’t be as durable as the original, genuine item.

the original has done over 50 years and i’d hoped to fit replacement which will last as long.
I’ve read a lot about some of these cheap inferior knockoff copies (though I’m not saying this is one of that kind) and i’d hate to get ripped off.

I don’t use the Hoover too often, nowadays, but it ran fine last time I tried it , about 5 years ago….maybe I should just retire it to the status of “cupboard queen” ?

I’m either getting old or slowing down……… Just realised the implications of what you’ve said!

All I’ll say is that, at 50 years old, don’t start another “replacement” thread. 😀
