    My Hoover 6 washing machine (c 2000) has been stored for 6 years and leaks now it has been put back into use. Leak seems to be from inside front somewhere. Any ideas please and is DIY repair likely to be cost effective on a machine of this age?

    There are no special tricks to tracing leaks. You just remove the lid and the back, start the machine on a rinse programme and inspect to see where the water comes from. You may need to lean the machine over to look underneath but make sure it’s switched off when doing that. Perhaps mice have chewed a hose inside the machine.
