Participanthoover a3632 washer circa 1987 ,customer removed soap drawer to clean out and when replaced water fills but also comes out of rear ,on investigating we find a short pipe from rear of soap drawer about 30mm thick leading to rear cabinet !, can some one explain what is the purpose of this pipe as we have not come across one before . Also customer has retrieved a small plastic piece and assumes this has come out of soap drawer but we can’t see where it fit’s any advice from old experienced hoover experts very helpful thanks

If I remember correctly the hose is a vent for the steam when hot filling.
As for the leak I would check the pressure chamber or pump for blockages.Allan.

No leak ,the water just pours out the back when water is filling in the soap drawer

If the back of the dispenser gets blocked then you would get water come out of the vent pipe. Theres a ridge at the very back that gets clogged.
Also, maybe the dispenser hose has got blocked with what she cleaned out of the dispenser itself.
You could always take a photo of the plastic bit she found and post it on here.June 24, 2011 at 3:39 pm #354111Martin

The inlet nozzle unit can be lifted, descaled and refitted. Then sealed with silicone for a neat watertight seal. Also replace the tub bellows seal as it must be well perished by now. 😉

I agree with Tim. There’s a blocked dispenser to tub hose. Had them blocked solid with hardened ball of soap powder on occasion – quite difficult to disperse.

as mentioned above pipe is a steam vent. on later machines the steam came out of the soap draw. this was because more people had fitted kitchens and to vent steam at the back ruined the units
dont know what you plastic bit is but if had a picture i am sure we may be able to tell what it isDave
