ParticipantWe recently did a Hoover washer – AA230 (3761554900347810) that would not spin – the brushes were knackered, so we fitted and bedded in new ones. Now the machine will rotate on the wash, agitate, do the prespin “plastering” etc. but when it gets to the spins it just sits inactive. Pumping out fine. Just won’t spin.
The module is in the left rear bottom of the cabinet in this version. Does anyone have any advice on this symptom/machine? Could it be e relay on the board? It’s the usual dilemna – should we order a new module or a new timer???
Thanks.

I’m pretty sure the module (relay terminal) will be burnt and just need cleaning up and a blob of solder to sort. 😉

Normally if its a relay problem on the module you will loose clockwise and/ or anti-clockwise drum rotation on the wash.
Therefore if you have clockwise and anti-clockwise on the wash I would say module is ok.
As already stated heater insulation low or blocked pressure system could be the issue here.

Thanks for all the input on this. (I did megger the htr – always do)
Turned out we fitted a duff set of carbons – they looked perfect but the megger said the motor was almost down to earth when I checked today. The armature was fine, it was the new brushes.
This apparently blew the module. Fitted new brushes (and meggered them this time!) and a new module (presumably the triac had gone. Relay terminals were fine) and all working perfickly now.
Cheers guys.
