For the last few times I have used the machine, the washing has been wringing wet when the cycle has finished. When I have put it back in on just a spin, you can her motor noises but the drum does not turn. My husband has had a look and the belt is ok, he has also checked for blockages and there doesnt seem to be any. What would be causing this?

Of note, on Friday we had a power cut for about 15 minutes. This happened as the machine was mid-cycle. Would this have affected the programmer, as everything was fine before and the problem has only arisen since Friday?

Check carbon brushes in drive motor. The noise you can hear is probably the drain pump. Article on carbon brushes HERE.

Power off if you are going to do this yourself.
