ParticipantThe plastic dial with teeth on this old Hoover AC170 (the one with LED display) is not engaging the microswitch and so not advancing through the programmes. When the microswitch is pressed manually the programmes advance.
Trouble is dont know what part number is for plastic dial mech?

hi 🙂
part no /HVR682448 knob:Push /connect number is (5031681679211) but no stock special order, just looked in my work shop but i dont have an old one kicking around, i have never had one of these go ?
dose it miss the switch when turning around for programe number to come up, poss ,idea if missing switch, trim down shaft it goes on so it pushes down a bit more to hit switch, 💡 or is switch really working ok?April 2, 2008 at 8:01 pm #247737boselecta

thanks canufixit, dial rotates but does not engage microswitch (unless you press it in really hard), the cogs on the roating dial just miss the microswitch. (microswich is ok)Tried taking it out and refitting washer but still the same, also seems alot of movement in dial. Didnt dare get the junior hacksaw out and shortening the shaft, might do this if I see this prob again. will just order part i think.

You will probably find the new part is modified – the original had sharp, almost gear – like teeth that would wear and foul on the microswitch button. This would make program selection very notchy and rough. The new modified one has a slow ‘wave like’ activating edge and is smooth and precise.
