Machine started making wierd noises, upon inspection of the drum and pump i came across a crucifix wedged in the pump (arent kids great) after reassembly and plugging in there is the wierd noise still, only now its changed somewhat, and i notied that there are sparks in the motor (brushes end) so out with the possi and removal of the motor (seems the only other thing it could be) stripped and full of carbon dust, cleaned it all up, my question how much of the brushes should be visiblethere is about, 1 1/2 cm showing, why is it sparking ? could it be say , the bearing that is sparking (due to some fault in the bearing) ? also, anyone know of a parts supplier in the oldham area ?

    thanks

The brushes, although worn don’t sound worn enough to cause the arcing you describe. I think the motor has failed to be honest, the sparking is caused by a failed armature normally 🙁

If you take it to a local repairer or ask an engineer to call – Repairs@ they will be able to verify one way or the other for you 🙂
