    Hi
I have a Hoover AL130 washing machine and the drum bearings have got very loud. I want to change the drum bearings. Does anyone know how this is best done? Does the drum have to come out and if so does it come out of the top? Will I require a new seal if the drum splits in half? Now I replace bearings on various things and it seems to me as bearings come in all sorts of speeds and hardnesses, what is to stop me from replacing the bearings with some that are much heavier duty, like motorcycle wheel bearings that put washing machine bearings to shame? Is there anywhere that has instructions on how to do the job? 😆
    Thanks for any help

The bearings aren’t the problem, it’s the seal. You need THIS LITTLE LOT.

Tank out and split to fit – centre seal is usually fine.

    Thanks Penguin.
The bearings in the photo accually look like quality bearings, the Z meaning metal bearing covers. With the seal not a bad price either. So I take it that I take out the whole drum and split it to get at the seal. One bearing in the spider and one in the drum tank supporting the drum. Does the drum and tank come out of the top and is there any where I can get at a parts drawing or help on how to remove the drum and tank?

Yes in the first part and no in the second.
