Hoover AM110 Spinning problems

Bit of a wierd fault this.

Nearly every other wash the machine goes through the cycle as normal but will not spin.

If you then select spin it will happily do it.

Anybody had similar problems on a Hoover washer?

two faults spring to mind

1 not draining properly blockages in hoses filters etc
2 there is an air operated switch that has a small plastic tube leading to a chamber if this chamber get blocked it wont spin but if you try it on spin a bit later the air has leaked out and it will work

coin in pipe leading to the pump housing will cause this
