    Good evening all,

Wondering if anyone can advise on the above problem.

As a relative newcomer to Appliance Engineering, I have encountered the above m/c which will not spin.

Naturally, I have checked the carbon brushes, and commutator, which are both fine, and the rest of the motor appears fine too.

The multiplug connection and earth wire to the motor also appear fine. However, I need to know how to ascertain if the motor, or electronic control module is at fault. The control module also appears to be in good condition.

Could some kind person please advise on the test procedure for the above, as I do not wish to purchase a new motor or module, if they are ok.

    Kind regards,

Seem to remember some of the Hoovers from a few years back would skip the spin if heater was open circuit. Another possibility would be an o/c toc in motor or o/c field coil (can happen when connector is hanging off frame and wires are able to move). Other than that, you’d be sending pcb to EMW for testing. Oh and don’t forget to check for p/sw stuck on full.

heater o/c or low insulation , gunged up pressure systom can cause this problem .. my bet its this > In case the User should choose to carry out a “spin only” phase out of one of the
programs for “white cotton”, the spin will not be activated if the “easy ironing” or
“anti-crease” option was previously selected. Therefore, to perform the spin, the
related option pushbutton must be de-activated. lol some times there in some times there out :rotfl:

    Thank you chaps,

I’ve considered the above, but will return to check as I was unable to fathom!

I tried the m/c on several different spin selections to no avail.

Would the heater still be a possible problem , considering it will not spin at all?
