Hoover D830

This dishwasher is about 10 years old and has a good history until now when it fails to fill. At the same time, the heater element is being activated with the result that the cutlery basket has melted. is this a float problem? Have not started any investigations yet.

Machine thinks it’s already full, so problem with water level control. Pressure switch may be jammed in the “full” position, or the air pressure system may be sludged up and be failing to allow the switch to de-pressurise.

Power off if tackling this yourself.
