I have an 18 month old Hoover DDY088T-80 dishwasher.
Firstly, the main control board failed. No errors, nothing – dead. ( I could see a discoloured resistor which had gone open cct. I replaced the resistor only for something else on the board to go phut.)
I obtained a new, programmed control board from Hoover.
I can select a program and start. The water drain pump will begin to run, and will ultimately trip out with an E3 error. According to the DDY088T manual, E3 means the machine cannot drain water, and suggests the outlet pipe is blocked or kinked or the siphon or filters are blocked.

However, if I manually fill the machine with water via the front door, then close the door and start a program, the outlet pump will run and water will gush from the outlet pipe.

So, the machine can drain, but it thinks it can’t.

    Anyone any ideas please?

Thank you kwatt – you got me thinking – pressure sensor.

There is the round sensor with a clear tube running to it – a level sensor? 3 contacts with only 2 of them used. It appears in my initial fiddling trying to find the fault, I had fiddled with the level sensor, and it appears I had put the 2 connectors back on the wrong contacts. The wrong contacts were normally closed and so the machine would be endlessly looking for the sensor to go open circuit. I moved one connector to the other contact (presumably normally open) and now the machine appears to work correctly. It successfully did a 5 minute pre wash – filled, washed and pumped out. It is now on our 2 hr normal wash.

    Mea culpa.

Moral of the story – we all have smartphones now. Use them and take plenty of photos before you start fiddling!

    Lesson learned.
