Hoover dishwasher hds 556 ms-80 won’t start

I have a problem with my dishwasher, when It was running last night something fell through the basket and stopped the spray arms moving. It stopped the machine and I cleared the item but now it won’t start at all (It dosent even make a noise). I have checked the power supply and it’s all ok and the on light comes on (it also dosen’t show any fault codes/flashing lights).

Is this a matter of resetting the machine or could it be something more serious? Any advice welcomed as I don’t fancy paying Hoover £125 to come and have a look!

Hi,

No it’s going to be something like a pump failed/blocked and unlikely to be something that is easy to get at I wouldn’t think. I don’t know the model but, ordinarily a dishwasher will drain the sump first before filling, if that fails it’ll just sit there looking stupid and do nothing.
