ParticipantHi. I have a Hoover 1300 wash ‘n dry (or not in this case)
Model is HW5513M UK. The dryer fan was locked up, and I’ve sorted this temporarily with lube. However, dryer heater isnt active.
Having read some of the comments here, I figured resetting trip switches was the obvious thing. Trouble is I cant locate them – there are what I take to be heater connections, and stats on the metal heater box, but cant find trips – I think I’m being thick.
Would be gratefull for you help and adviceThanks
PS I have unplugged, but remind me anyway!October 28, 2006 at 11:23 pm #193648Penguin45

Four stats on top of the heater box – two of them have little stalks on top. Press the stalks down – one will probably go “click”. If the fan didn’t run, these safeties have done their job. You should consider replacing the fan motor and cleaning out the condenser housing at the earliest opportuniy.
Power off, of course 🙂 .

Thank you Penguin45 – spot on. Heater now works fine. Only slight snag is that whilst re-setting stat trip, I may have rotated it also – look like this will adjust trip point. Is there an easy way eg voltage reading to reset to default? (I have meters etc)
One other thing – fan really needs replacing as you say – where is best place to source part, and also is there is an easy way to access cos the screws which release motot/fan assy from the condensor housing are not accessible from the back of the machine. Thanks plenty, TFC

There is no adjustment on the safety thermosat.
Removing the fan motor as part of the ducting would be the most sensible way to do it – the housing will need a thorough flushing out anyway.
Spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply the part pretty quickly – I can’t seem to find a part number for it unfortunately.
