I was called to this job, the customer says that the machine lights up and it is not responding to the program.

I meggered the machine and noticed the insulation is a tad too low for it’s age as it is four years old, the reading came up as 113 mohm. I thought it could be the brushes, the brushes are very clean and no issues with the motor, meggered the motor which returned in the region of 580-600 mohm. Isolated the heater, checked for continuity which is 40ohm and the insulation is over 2000mohm.

Isolated the control module and the machine gave the reading of 2000 mohm, which implies that there’s an issue with the module. I can’t find any scorch marks, dry solder without looking under a magnifying glass or blown components on it. Quick search on Connect, not in stock but 2- 4 weeks order. QER and EMW can’t help.

Can anyone help? Is it the module the problem or elsewhere like pressure switch so that I can order the module and wait if is the module?

    Cheers
    Matt

As long as the machine megs over 5mohms that’s hoovers standard does the door lock?

And did you check the dc rectifier bottom left corner at the back?

didn’t check door lock, now this kinda makes sense. Is the rectifier contained within the module? The module is on the rear bottom left from standing at the rear. I couldn’t find any other module other than the control panel.

Ok then it’s the newer type with rectifier built in, 2 possible culprits motor or main pcb check if the door locks I am sure the motor can affect door lock like the newer hotpoints. If you have the 3100 number I can check on Hoover’s website which module is fitted along with a part number for pcb or motor, you can fit any 1600 dc motor on this machine from older models as I’ve done it. There are 10 different models with dyn8164d each with a different 3100 number. Kai

    3100437713253120,

I happen to have a broken hoover washer, the DYN model 1400 spin with bearings failure. Suppose I could try using that motor?

As long as it has the same amount of connectors for the motor plug it will probably fit
