Hi, can anyone give me some advise, I have a hoover DYN8144, it is completely dead.. I have removed the main PCB from the rear to discover a burnt out resistor, the connector for the pump has burnt out too and the display PCB also has damage. I replaced the resistor on the main PCB, and plugged it back back in without the pump attached to see if that was the problem, but it blew again, it was then I discovered the burnt display PCB. I can get a second hand display PCB and pump for about £20, and I can replace the resistor on the main PCB for pennies, the question is which was the likely culprit to cause the chain reaction in the first place, and is it likely to happen again once I replaced these parts?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

very unlikely to be just the resistor. a lot of manufacturers use fusible resistors to protect against fire. my guess is the power supply chip has also failed
