Hoover DYN9144DG gone bang !

Evening chaps , a friend of mine has had a bit of an altercation with her hoover DYN9144DG washing machine. She’d used it twice today then went to use it for a 3rd time. She filled it with washing , closed the door , pressed the start button and at that point the machine went bang and tripped the electrics. Now the door won’t unlock and her sons school uniform is stuck inside. She says the door lock light is flashing and nothing is happening.

Having no knowledge of this brand , Do these models have door locks that short or maybe wiring loom problems?
Is there any emergency door release mechanism or is the only way to open the door is to break it open ?

Door locks often fail on these, taking the pcb with it 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time.

You can usually release the door lock by removing the lid and prising the latch free, lock is usually near to the top so easy to access. No emergency release AFAIK. 🙁

There are a few different versions so the long number beginning with 3100**** is needed to verify exact model.

Maybe door lock more likely she has overloaded the machine and knackered the motor or dc rectifier also check the main module as Hoover machines always have more than 1 fault eg motor taken pcb out
