ParticipantHi there. Can anybody help me with my Hoover New Wave plus 5 Autowasher 1400.
It has been displaying the E1 error message recently. I have tried removing the filters in the ‘in’ pipes as I read they might be partially blocked and causing the problem.
Have just tried a wash with the filters out and it got to E1 as usual and stopped so I have tried to do a condition rinse and the machine has stopped again with E2 showing and all lights flashing.
If this is reasonably easy to fix fine but if it is expensive the machine, which is a good few years old, will have to go so any advise here would also be gratefully recived.
Thanks a lot
best wishes

Chris,
The 2 fault codes can indicate both a pump problem and a heating problem. Well worth getting checked out if the machine is in good order. Check our repairs@ for an engineer to contact you in your area.

The E1 error code usualy indicates that the machine has exceeded the check time for the fill, heat or empty.
you could try checking the pressure pipe from the pressure switch has not looped below the top of the reservoir. or that the Eco ball is not sticking.
with regards to E2 error code this indicates an open circuit in the thermistor.
Hope this may help

HI. I had my washer/dryer do this a while ago. This is a known prblem with this washer/dryer and is due to a low resistance (less than 3.2Mohm) on the heating element in the bottom of the tub. Check the resistance between earth and the two heater terminals (remove the connections first) and you’ll probably find it to be below spec. If the resistance to earth is low simply replace the heater element. Only cost you about £10. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your help. On this occassion as the machine is 8 years old I have decided to consign it to the wahing machine after life. Hopefully my new machine – a Bosch which arrives Friday – will give me a year or two trouble free service before I have to come back to this very helpful site. Well done and thanks to those who run and respond to it.
Thanks again.
Best wishes
