    Hi,

My Dad’s Hoover ComputerLogic 1300 (A3492-001) is displaying an F6 error code on its screen, and is making a “funny” noise. Can anybody please tell me what this error code means, as I cannot seem to find it anywhere..

    Thanks,

    Paul…

    Re: Hoover Fault code

    Quite an old machine now.
    F6 Motor tachometer faulty.

In essence this means that for some reason the main motor cannot run correctly.

It may just need new brushes but that doesn’t normally cause a noise.
You need to be very circumspect with regard to repairing this machine, if it is not the brushes then the motor armature could be faulty. Getting to the stage of uneconomic to repair.

Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to investigate further.

After you have removed the back panel, visually examine the alloy drum backplate for any signs of corrosion, white fluffy deposits etc. If it does show signs of this then don’t waste your time, same applies if the machine is noisy when you spin the drum by hand.

Thanks Jim, I will take a look at the brushs and see if they have worn excessively, and maybe try to source some new ones..
