Have a Nuova IBMEI motor made in Italy and used in an Australian Frontloader. Should be same motor as used in UK. Motor will not run at all on Wash or Spin. Does anyone have test instructions for PC Board or winding resistances and test connections to bench test motor

    😀

Assuming its a brush motor, right? Generaly we dont really need actual resistance readings, I tend to just check for pairs of connections at the motor plug. ie. if there are 6 wires at the plug you should have 3 pairs when meter tested, if its an odd number, the odd conection is usually a centre tap on the field which should show as a circuit to one of the other pairs. Needless to say, none of the contacts should read to earth.
If its an induction motor, things are not so simple. PC board will be unique to whatever appliance it is probably not testable. If it has a large ceramic resistor then suspect that which should be easy to check as the resistance will be written on it.

Thanks for that it is an induction motor not a brush motor.

    If anyone can help

    Hi,
An induction motor will have a minimum of 5 pins. These will give you wash (forward), wash (reverse), slow spin and fast spin. One pin will be the common neutral – often a blue lead. Identify that, then meter to the remaining pins. You should get (typically) a reading of between 20-70 ohms across each set of coils. Difficult to exact! Some modern motors will also have a tacho coil on the end of the motor for speed control purposes – this may give a reading of 100-200 ohms. Obviously any reading to earth is bad news

BTW, all the windings will be interlinked EXCEPT the pin for the reverse winding

    Hope that’s some use,

    Regards,

Wonder if this machine is a Merloni? Sounds likely and there is no reason they havn’t invaded Australia as well. If so would suspect the module. Also, dont forget the capacitor(s) as its an induction motor, usually if this has gone you will get some attempt at motor action or maybe just a hum but worth checking out anyway.
