KeymasterThe agitator in my Hoover Galaxy model no: 206moaus has self destructed and the bolt holding the agitator to the machine has snapped off leaving part of the bolt in the metal thing under the aditator. There is a 12mm bolt holding the metal thing onto the inner bowl but I can’t seem to undo it. Should I keep trying or am I going about it the wrong way?

You’ve got me puzzled too 😕 What’s a Hoover Galaxy anyway? Not something I have heard of in the UK, so I guess it’s not a UK appliance ❓

ParticipantIt’s an Aussie top loader Martin. There was another one last week. The only vaguely useful bit of info I could find was http://www.hoover.co.au
Hoover Australia is part of E/lux, which struck me as rather ironic!

ParticipantJason,
Did a bit more digging – try http://www.appliance.asn.au – seems to be an appliance trade organisation in Oz, so you might get some more informed advice through them than we can offer.Good Luck,

ParticipantJason,
Ideally you phone your local Appliance Industry Association member and get him to repair the machine.
There are member lists http://www.appliance.asn.au
Otherwise…
You probably do not need to remove the bowl. You need someone -your local appliance mechanic or even your local motor mechanic to use an ‘Ezi-out’ or similar tool to remove the broken piece of the agitator holding screw from the agitator shaft.
The Galaxy is not so big you can’t get it to someone. Then all you need is a new agitator and agitator bolt.
BUT. why did it break in the first place? Machine overloaded? Shoes or something hard in the machine? A carpet or large rug?October 12, 2004 at 4:03 am #117887harps
