ParticipantGuys,
Been to a Hoover H130E today that had a problem in that is did nothing other then flash an error code. After checking my fault book it appears that the one flash in 15 seconds leads me to believe I have an interlock related problem. After some checks I found that the door does lock correctly and that the door locked light illuminates.
Furthermore the error flashes prior to the door being closed. Prior to me purchasing an interlock am I right in thinking that the interlock is where the fault is at? I have checked the pcb and didn’t find any signs of damage, I also checked the wiring which was fine.
Any comments would be appreciated.Mark

I’m assuming here Mark that the Start LED and 1st Option Button LED are flashing in this case?
If the door weren’t latched correctly at that point in the programme then 1 flash error code would show. Sticking a screwdriver into the interlock to lock it would confirm. My guess is that the TR4 triac has blown on the board TBH? (Double check that is best. :))
Those door latches aren’t the best either. 🙁

Cheers guys,
I wasn’t sure that the interlock would be to blame.
Martin, as you suggested the first option button and first led are both lit. Could the interlock have caused the problem? By this I mean if it has damaged the board and the machine is repaired will I need to replace the interlock or might it have just been a board fault? (I hope that made sense)
As a relative newbie can you confirm whether I can check to see whether it is the triac?
The one flash (in 15 seconds) occurred even when the door was not pushed shut, does this make it being the board more probable?
Many thanks guys,
Mark

Mark, if there was no sign of damage on the board (and that could mean a small chip blown off the corner of a triac’s plastic body) then you could check the triacs with a test lamp but it’s a job that you need to do at a comfortable workbench with various sized croc clips for connecting up and even then you need to know a bit about how they work. I’m sure you could get all the info on the web if that’s how you want to spend your time and it makes sense if work is short. However, Tony’s offer of £5 + vat to test it is a good one, though it’ll cost you about £40? if he can repair it. He may find that it is unrepairable and return it to you. That is also a result because you then know. And some Hoover modules are only £55/60? from Gias retail.

All 7 triacs are clearly marked on the surface side of the coreboard. The one you need to look at is marked TR4. 😉
