I have owned a Hoover H160E UK for 12 years now and have nursed it through a number of faults – brushes (three times), drain pump, door seal, blocked pipes to name a few.

However the latest fault has stumped me – when I turn it on to a 44 min programme I get a clicking noise from around the program selector knob that goes on for a few minutes and then nothing. It’s quite normal for the clicking noise to happen for a few seconds until the programme starts but that isn’t happening.

Opening the lid it appears that the arm that the connects the selector to the soap drawer is moving backwards and forwards but nothing else happens before it times out.

I have managed to get a 29 minute programme to start but it stops with the super-wash flashing fault light (failure to drain in time).

Any advice gratefully received. My wife is angling for a new machine but the bloody minded side of me would like to fix it.

    thanks – Michael

Thanks Martin. I have ordered a selector switch and will let you now how I get on.
