ParticipantHi,
I have a Hoover HCA300FK fridge freezer, the light has gone out but it’s not the bulb because I have changed it already (and occasionally flickers when I tap the door switch-door switch contacts are fine) .
Also the fridge is starting to freeze all the food. The LED’s on the control panel are out and even though I set the temp to lowest it is still freezing.I’m guessing that it’s the control panel is shot, but a guess is all it is because I’m not clued up on refrigerators at all.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated! 😉

Hi,
It’s a fair bet that the PCB would be faulty and, ordinarily, I’d probably concur. However, having looked at the technical info on that appliance I’d have to say that without running a diagnosis routine, it’s nigh on impossible to draw any definitive conclusion.
But, lets’ start at the beginning, even although it’s a new range I have no knowledge of, yet…
GIAS Tech wrote:A. UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR AND LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED FOR AT LEAST 6 MINUTES, IN ORDER TO ALLOW THE BALANCING OF PRESSURE INSIDE THE SEALED CIRCUIT.
B. CONNECT A DIGITAL METER IN SERIES TO ONE OF THE TWO PHASES OF THE MAINS CURRENT TO THE APPLIANCE. METER MUST HAVE A READING SCALE OF AT LEAST 20 AMPERES IN ALTERNATE CURRENT.
You have to understand Italianish. Trust me, it’s a challenge, I’ve been doing it for almost twenty years. And, if you can’t fathom the above then I would strongly recommend that you call for professional help on this. Randomly guessing at it and replacing parts without a clue is not the way to go.
Once reset, if it still displays the fault symptoms, then it is time to start running the autotest routines which are quite involved. I would not recommend it unless you have a good knowledge of how refrigeration works, frost free and that you are familiar with the various components used as well as what to test.
The instructions are not explicit to one model, they apply to a huge range. Step by step instructions for that one appliance do not exist.

Thanks for the reply KWATT!
(EDITED)
Just for the record in case somebody has the same issues replacing the PCB did actually solve the problem!
