Hi All,
I have been repairing whitegoods & the like for friends and family for years, just to help them out, my main job is a maintenance electrician/general service engineer so I have good experience in the field.
I have just taken on the Hoover HCA390FFK (Candy) Fridge Freezer and the inital problem was over freezing, first I checked all the drainaged tubes that drain to the evaporation tray at the back of the appliance the fridge was clear but the freezer had a small blockage caused by ice, all have been cleared now, I have tested the defrost element and that reads around 211 ohms which to me says its ok, I also tested the cabinet thermistor which measured around 4k ohms which also suggests this is ok, the thermal cutout on the freezer condenser also seems to be working as its closed when frozen and open at room temperature, the fan also runs well, so my diagnosis was the Control PCB which I have ordered and arrived today, however there is an extra wire supplied with it and I don’t know what this is for? could anyone enlighten me please? I have included a picture and numbered the pins as well as higlighting the wire in question…..
(Pins 7,8 & 9 seem to have nothing connected to it?) If a diagram is available for this fridge freezer I would appreciate a copy & be most greatful 😉 though not essential as I only need to know what the extra brown wire below is for and curious as to what pins 7,8 & 9 are used for. Thankyou – Midge5 (George)
