Hoover HD97E dishwasher E1 fault.

Hoover HD97E dishwasher. 32000009. 0225.

E1 fault.

The fault code guide says time out on fill. The hose was kinked and the valve was silted up; so I cleaned the valve filter and fitted new inlet hose. The water filled quicker, but….
1) The water level was just below the tub rim; (looked overfull) and
2) Five minutes into the cycle and washing normally, the E1 flashes up again and the machine beeps continuously. 👿 The machine has enough water in it to wash, if not a little too much.
I must also mention that it is on a hot supply. There is no room for a ‘Y’ piece amongst the plumbing under the sink so connecting to cold is impossible without cutting the pipes about. 🙁 But it has worked fine like this for 2 years and the problem has only just started.

Any ideas?

It’s got to be water level related. Pressure chamber is a take-off on the front of the sump – sludged? There’s no flow meter on this one to worry about, so slugde, water in the hose and p/sw or p/sw itself I suppose – ain’t much else.

Before I put an axe through this thing…… :bang: :angry4:

I’ve taken the sump off and thoroughly cleaned it out – not much sludge present. Refitted it and after sorting numerous leaks from all the hoses, I’m still getting E1 fault. The machine was set to the 29 minute rinse / hold cycle to test fill and empty.
So….I tested the presssure switch contacts empty and full – switching perfectly. 😕 I connected a meter to the valve terminals and ran the machine from empty. Power at the valve OK; fills and the pressure switch clicks off. Power still at the valve…… 😕 😕 Stopped the machine and circuit tested the pressure switch again – working fine. Reconnected and switched machine back on. Power at the valve until 25 minutes and then E1 fault. Machine then auto drains a bit then switches power to the valve back on. But this time it is hydraulically locked off by the overfill. :hmm:
So the pressure switch and the overfill system is working, but still E1 faulting. The only thing I can think of is PCB – anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone had this fault before?
