ParticipantHi there.
Was pointed in the forum direction by a certain saab owning moderator. Taken a bit of time to post as the problem has been sporadic and ive now got time to have a look.
We have a Hoover HDS 556 MS-80 Slimline dishwasher, it wont fill at all although it sounds like its trying to. It also is making a lot more noise than normal. It has also flooded the floor. We have had a look inside and there doesnt seem to be any excess build up of scale or gunge ( that we can see although we havent been into the guts of it. The bottle marked softwater valve is full and the chamber with the foam filter is also full. We have taken this off and drained it and it was clean water that came out.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers
Al.

It’s a Chinese machine…….. 🙁
Water levels are a major issue with all the Haier-built dishwashers. With the power off, start by locating the level switch. This is a round unit with three tags and an air-hose attached. Ensure that there is no water in the air-hose or switch. Switch should “click” once when blown into gently, then again when depressurised. Assuming this all ok, run the machine without any detergent a couple of times to flush it out.
If it works, the following does and don’ts are crucial:
Do not use any form of multifunction tablet in the machine. They foam like crazy and cause all sorts of leaks, not to mention throwing out the water level control. Powder, single function tablets and Fairy Bursts are all low froth products.
Once it’s running, never, ever open the door until it’s finished.
If it’s still not right, most engineers recommend one of these:

Quite seriously, put ‘chinese AND dishwasher’ into Search for this forum and see what you get – it’s pretty grim reading.
Good luck,

Thanks Penguin, ill have a look into that in the morning. Its been a bit like the krypton factor trying to get in about it.
I do know someone who built their own trebuchet so if we cant get any further with it then its probably a good idea! 😀

Right switches checked and dried out and its all back together. Will try it soon. Had a few other problems to deal with today. The washer dryer is on the blink well the dryer part ill post in the correct section about that soon. To top it all off the gas hob has also stopped working and there is no gas coming out now. Happens in threes does it! 👿
