    Hello All

This is my first post so please bear with me.

I am trying to identify a fault on the above machine before deciding to attempt to repair it myself or call in a service engineer. As I am a 30 year time served electrical engineer I have had a lot of success in the past repairing various home appliances once I have obtained some information to point me in the right direction.

The appliance is around 4 years old and has been very reliable up until now. Around six months ago it started developing an occasional intermittant fault which has become gradually more frequent and is now happening on almost every wash. Once the programme is set and the machine starts, it carries out the wash cycle without any problems, filling, emptying, turning the drum, etc. Just before the rinse/spin cycle the programmer freezes and the machine just sits there forever. If the power is turned off and the programmer rotated back to the rinse/spin cycle position and then started again, it will complete the programme without any further problem. A rinse/spin cycle can also be set as an independant programme and the machine will also complete this without a problem. Once the rinse/spin cycle starts the machine will fill, drain, spin (min or max speed) and run to the end of the programme.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Regards and thanks

check that there isnt a creaseguard or a “caress” button selected.

    Thanks suedehead for the reply.

This Hoover model does not have any creaseguard or caress facility and what buttons there are (Megawash, Miniwash, Extra Rinse, etc) are not selected. When any of them are, the same symptoms are still there, the machine stops before the rinse cycle after emptying the wash water.

if it stops before the rinse cycle it could be a water valve problem, a pressure switch or pressue switch tube blocked, or the pcb.

    Suedehead

If the problem was related to the components/parts you state, would this not have an affect on the wash cycles also, as these must be utilised during these programme functions as well? Also if the rinse/spin cycle is selected as a seperate programme, the cycle completes without interruption everytime.

all of the above can cause intermitent faults, solenoid valves can go open circuit when hot and be ok when they cool down pressure switches can do the same a blockage in the pressure switch tube or bell will normally allow machine to fill then empty but not be able to tell the pcb that there is no water in it so it wont fill up again.
pcb has many component which will give an intermitent fault.
thats the problem with intermitent faults.

    Re: Hoover HF7 130M Rinse/Spin Problem

i have exactly the same fault on my hoover nextra 7.5kg HFN7613

it fills up fine, empties fine, but just before it’s due to fill for a rinse, it freezes, but if i put it on an independent spin or rinse, it does it all ok, oh, and if i put my laundry on a daily 44min/ daily 29min wash, it’s ok too.

this fault only happens on the main washes, and my machine is nearly 4yrs old.
