This machine keeps sticking on the programmer, just before spin cycle. Moving on manually works OK sometimes but misses part of cycle obviously. Is this a case of a new timer costing about £40 or should I pay for Hoover engineer at £89 (machine is 3 years old)?

Probably just a drain out problem (i.e the pump and drain hose blocked or restricted?) ??
Never assume the Timer/programmer by the way, that’s the last place to look really! 😉
P.S. Using an independent engineer will not charge anywhere near what Hoover charge by the way (see link below for one in your area)
