ParticipantThe above m/c just stopped according to the customer. When pressing the on/start button ,neon lights up ,relay seems to click & timer starts to click but thats it ,heater checks out ok but no mains supply down to it, am I looking at a timer or is it the little circuit board/ relay thingmy jig? Couldn’t do anymore tests as customer wanted to go out [why do they do that?], s/n 31100067 0436 5325.

Not had that one before, but the pcb’s do fail for fun, usualy causing the dryer to stop running unless the start button is held in. I hate these poxy hoover dryers, will be glad when there a thing of the past. Especially the condensor version that squeek rattle and cause so much greif! If the door switch is ok then I personaly would go for the pcb for what it costs (£6.51+vat from connect distribution). After all, it’s a common thing to fail and there are millions of these evil contraptions around so if it isnt the pcb, you will use it on another job before long.

PCB is purely a start relay device and has nothing to do with the heater circuit.
Assuming that the heater stats are in circuit, there is another one on the front by the drum wheel support bracket that can play up – lots of broken wiring in that area due to inadequate restraint of the loom. If that checks out, yes, timer – it’s all that’s left.
Jack – quoting Connect prices in the forum is a bad plan. Your £6.51 is probably somebody else’s £6,510,000 due to their iniquitous pricing policy. Sufficed to say, I know longer enjoy a business relationship with them. Didn’t enjoy it much when I had a business relationship with them………..
